This ten-day trip combines a journey to Peru’s most fascinating colonial and Inca locations with rejuvenating multi-day spa treatments in a luxurious setting and a hands-on experience of the very best of Peru’s cuisine.

This ten-day trip explores Peru’s colonial capital Lima and its Inca heartland of Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.

A visit to a local market and a cooking class tailored especially for you. You will be instructed in the preparation of typical Peruvian dishes from scratch in the home of a local chef, using fresh ingredients from the market.

The wellness programme at your Aranwa Hotel included three days will allow you to escape into the magic world of the ancient wisdom of the Incas. There are several specialist programmes to choose from, including: weight control, anti-stress, skin and body beauty, and rejuvenation and anti-ageing.

The programmes include workshops, treatments, gym and exercise sessions and therapies as well as medical and nutritional evaluations.

Discover the Inca sites on the outskirts of Cusco city, including the huge fortress of Sacsayhuamán, Tambomachay baths and Puca Pucará, an administrative and military centre of terraces, stairways and passages.

Then enter the centre of the city to visit both colonial and Inca sites such as Warrior's Square and Santo Domingo Church, which was built upon the foundations of the Inca Koricancha temple of the sun, the main religious building of the Incas.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival to Lima
    Arrival to Lima, Peru’s capital. Upon transfer to your hotel, you get the spa treatment experience brought right to your room, or in the hotel’s leisure centre. You will be provided with a welcome spa basket that includes a selection of plant-based aromatherapy oils and room sprays allowing you to choose your own aromas for the treatment
  • Day 2: Market tour - Cooking classes - City tour – Gourmet dinner
    A visit to a local market and a cooking class tailored especially for you. You will be instructed in the preparation of typical Peruvian dishes from scratch in the home of a local chef, using fresh ingredients from the market. After a delicious lunch, take a tour of Lima for a glimpse of its majestic colonial past in the city centre, some of Lima’s contemporary residential and commercial areas, sites of pre-colonial civilisations and views of the Pacific Ocean. In the evening, enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants of Gaston Acurio, one of the pioneer’s of Lima’s Novoandina food movement that has propelled Peru’s cuisine onto the world stage with its innovating blend of new and traditional indigenous cuisine.
  • Day 3: Lima - Cusco - Sacred Valley
    Flight to Cusco and transfer to hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Afternoon visit to the well-preserved Inca market town of Ollantataytambo and its Sanctuary is one of the largest archaeological complexes in Peru.
  • Day 4: Wellness Programme

  • Day 5: Wellness Programme

  • Day 7: Sacred Valley- Chinchero textiles-Maras salt mines - Machu Picchu
    Morning visit to a traditional weaving workshop at Chinchero, to discover the importance of textiles to the people of this region for thousands of years. On to the Maras salt mines before boarding a train at Ollanta for the two-hour journey to Machu Picchu, transferring to your hotel adjacent to the site.
  • Day 8: Machu Picchu - Cusco
    Starting early, a morning visit to the magnificent Inca stone citadel of Machu Picchu and its spectacular hilltop setting. After lunch at the Sanctuary Orient Express Hotel there is time to relax and possibly enjoy a foot massage at the hot springs of Aguas Calientes. Late afternoon return by train to Cusco.
  • Day 9: Cusco
