In advance of your arrival you will receive a questionnaire requesting details that give us more insight into you and your current lifestyle, as well as what you are looking for from your retreat, and the lifestyle you’re aspiring to implement. The more detail you are able to provide, the more detailed support and guidance we are able to provide.
We use this to inform our pre-retreat one-to-one consultation with you. At a time to suit you, this will typically take place by Skype and will enable us to tailor a 16-week programme that meets your specific requirements. All information is treated with utmost confidentiality and is used to develop your personal fitness and nutrition programme.
During the retreat:
Each morning wake up to bountiful gourmet breakfasts, with a delicious selection of changing daily specialties that provide wholesome satisfaction for the active day ahead. After breakfast we head off for that day’s activity.
The day’s activity will dictate where and when the core of our fitness programme takes place. Daily (with one rest day with optional activities) this will include cardiovascular and strength building exercises, supported by yoga and warm up/cool down to suitably prepare the body. All of our sessions are designed to stretch tired muscles and restore your centre after very active days of sun, action and adventure.
Once back at the eco-lodge, you’ll enjoy a wind-down session followed by own time when you and the other guests can come together to relax and rejuvenate yourselves for the next part of the adventure.
This time allows opportunity for us to work with you on a one-on-one basis to ensure your 16-week fitness and nutrition programme is tailored to your specific needs and is SMART to help ensure a true, long-lasting lifestyle change. We will also use this time to schedule a post-retreat assessment at some point before the end of your 16-week programme.
Your personal programme takes into account your lifestyle, work and family commitments and is designed in a way to help you stick to it and succeed. However, we want you to know that our support doesn’t end the moment you step on the plane bound for home. While on retreat we’ll schedule a follow-up call with you within your 16-week programme to see how you’re getting on and hear your feedback, and answer any questions of course! Outside of this call, you can always contact us if you have an urgent enquiry.
Optional: Trek to Summit of Mount Chirripó
Mount Chirripó is the second highest peak in Central America and is part of the Talamanca Mountain Range. This is Costa Rica’s most challenging hike, but one that provides access to some incredibly scenery, wildlife and landscapes along the way.
On day 1 you hike in three stages as you ascend the mountain. Expect to see colourfultoucans, trogons, monkeys, and more as you pass through dwarf cloud forests draped in “Old Man’s Beard” mosses.
Arise very early the next day to begin trekking to the summit of Mt. Chirripó before the fog rolls in. Along the way you will pass by numerous lakes and it will become clear why the Talamanca Indians called this area the “Place of Enchanted Waters.” Enjoy the sunrise; the view to the Pacific and Atlantic is stunning.
