Salt rocks: a tour of highland Bolivia - The Guardian

Gemma Bowes, editor of the Guardian travel supplement was “strapped in for one of the rides of her life”, joining HighLives for the Bolivian Odyssey. Amongst other places, she visited Salar de Uyuni, the Salt Flats and the Bolivian desert. She describes travelling through the Salt Flats in the rainy season a bit like skydiving and sailing in the clouds, even though actually driving in a 4x4. The 4,000 square miles salt flat becomes a humongous mirror which makes it impossible to make out where the earth ends and the heavens begin.

She was lost in the beauty of the desert landscape as well, feeling like she’s been out of this world, more like within a Star Trek episode.

Let us enchant you, give us a call to book your personal Bolivian Odyssey with HighLives.
