The mystical Lake Titicaca forms a natural border between Bolivia and Peru, making these two countries an ideal combination for an introductory tour through the heart of South America. You will travel by train, boat and bus for a truly authentic experience, accompanied by local guides from whom you can learn about the fascinating history of this region.

Start the tour by exploring Sucre and Potosi, two Bolivian cities steeped in history and culture, where you can visit insightful museums and discover the legacy of a region that was once the centre of the Spanish Empire’s mining operations. From there, travel through the stunning, other-worldly landscapes of the Uyuni Salt Flats and journey further to Lake Titicaca, where you can take a boat to the Islands of the Sun and the Moon. Having crossed the border into Peru, you will visit Cusco, with a guided tour of the city and its Inca ruins, then heading deep into the Andean Mountains for the experience of a lifetime – a visit to Machu Picchu, the most iconic and marvellous of all the Incan sites.


  • Day 1: Arrival in Sucre
    Transfer to hotel. Free day to relax and acclimatise. Meals: n/a
  • Day 2: Sucre
    Half day city tour – visit Liberty Museum, the churches of San Lazaro and San Felipe Neri and the indigenous people museum ASUR. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Day 3: Sucre - Potosi
    Travel by bus to Potosi, once the centre of the Spanish Empire’s mining operations. Visit the Cerro Rico mines and the Casa de la Moneda mint that bankrolled imperial Spain. Meals: Breakfast
  • Day 4: Potosi - Uyuni
    Take the bus to Uyuni. Visit the Uyuni Salt Flats, one of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. Meals: Breakfast
  • Day 5: Uyuni Salt Flats
    Full day in the Uyuni Salt Flats, including visits to Isla Incahuasi and the Salt Mountains. Travel overnight to Oruro by train. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Day 6: Oruro - La Paz
    Transfer to La Paz and free day at leisure. Meals: Breakfast
  • Day 7: La Paz
    Half day city tour – experience colonial La Paz. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Day 8: La Paz - Copacabana
    Travel in a tourist bus to Copacabana, accompanied by a guide who will give you a fascinating introduction to the region. Enjoy a walking tour where you will visit Copacabana’s famous church and the Calvary. Stop for lunch at a well-known food stall. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Day 9: Lake Titicaca
    Tourist boat to Sun and Moon Islands on Lake Titicaca. An authentic tour meeting local fishermen and enjoying a traditional lunch. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Day 10: Puno
    Transfer to Puno, on the Peruvian side of the border. Meals: Breakfast
  • Day 11: Puno
    Full day visit to the floating island, known as “Uros” in Lake Titicaca. Afterwards, you will make your way to the unique Island of Taquile, where time appears to have stopped. The Mediterranean atmosphere of this place is striking, with its steps of stone and its houses centered around the square. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Day 12: Puno - Cusco
    Transfer to the local bus station to board the Tourist class regular bus to the city of Puno. It is a full day trip starting at 7:00 a.m., crossing the great anti plano with the ever present snow-capped Andean Mountains. On route, you will visit Andahuaylillas and the villages of Raqchi and Pucará. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Day 13: Cusco
    Guided tour visiting Cusco’s Historical Inca and Spanish Colonial Monuments and the Sacsayhuamán ruins near to the city of Cusco. Then, onto Tambomachay, known as the Inca baths. Lastly, enjoy a panoramic view of PukaPukara which was an administrative and military centre formed from terraces, stairways, passages, turrets and vaulted niches. Meals: Breakfast
  • Day 14: Machu Picchu
    Transfer to the train station to board the Tourist Class train to Aguas Calientes, a small town located below Machu Picchu. Upon arriving at Aguas Calientes, transfer to the bus station to board your regular bus uphill to Machu Picchu (approximately 20 minutes). On arrival enjoy a guided tour of the Sanctuary. Afterwards, board your shuttle bus back to Aguas Calientes and then your return train to Cusco. Meals: Breakfast
  • Day 15: Cusco - Lima
    Transfer to the airport to board your flight to Lima where the tour will end. Meals: Breakfast
