Costa Rica is a diverse country, boasting mountains, volcanoes, cloud forest and rainforest, with each of its regions being home to an abundance of incredible wildlife. This makes it the ideal destination for hiking, as you can enjoy a variety of terrains and connect with nature as you go. We offer you this adventurous itinerary which not only includes some of Costa Rica’s most inspiring hikes, but also plenty of activities including rafting, kayaking and snorkelling.

Start your tour in San Jose, from where you will take a day
trip to visit the active Poas Volcano. Then, travel south for your 2-day hike
of Costa Rica’s highest peak, Mount Chirripo. Next, you will make your way to
the Caribbean coast, taking part in some birdwatching and cultural visits en
route, as well as a day white water rafting. Once you’ve reached the sunny
Caribbean shores you can enjoy kayaking and snorkelling, and have a few days’
relaxation before starting the next part of the tour. The stunning Osa
Peninsula is the next destination in line, and here you will go on another
2-day hike, including an overnight camp in the jungle. The Cano Island
Biological Reserve is one of the best places to experience marine wildlife, so
you will have a couple of days here for snorkelling and general rest before you

along with a range of memorable activities including white water rafting,

- Day 3: San Jose - San Gerardo de Rivas
Transfer to San Gerardo de Rivas
- Day 4: Chirripo
Trek: Day 1
Hike to the top of Costa Rica’s highest peak – Mount Chirripo. Journey through beautiful cloud forest and changing micro climates to reach the mystical location at which Costa Ricans traditionally believe humans were first created by the gods. (Accompanied by a bilingual guide)

Transfer to San Gerardo de Dota.

Quetzal Quest Hike - shared half day tour with guide.
Set out on a guided birdwatching hike with the aim of spotting the stunning Resplendant Quetzal, with its emerald green head and bright red breast.

- Day 8: San Gerardo de Dota - Turrialba
Transfer to Turrialba.
Shared half day tour of Guayabo National Monument with a guide.
Visit this important archaeological site to see the remains of an indigenous village dating back more than three thousand years. Learn about the communities who populated this site and how their lives compare to modern day living in Costa Rica.

Rafting on Pacuare River (full day).
Transfer to Cahuita/Puerto Viejo Limon.
After arriving at the river, our expert guides will explain safety precautions and provide you with the necessary rafting gear before the rafting adventure begins. Once in the water, you’ll experience sheer exhilaration as you face the challenge of each huge wave, battling surging waters down miles of raging rapids.

Kayaking and snorkelling at Punta Uva o Manzanillo (full day).
- Day 11: Puerto Viejo

- Day 12: Puerto Viejo

- Day 13: Flight to Puerto Jimenez via San Jose.
- Day 14: Osa Peninsula
La Sirena Hike Day 1. Walk about 16 kilometers along a forest trail near the beach and cross two big rivers, Rio Madrigal and Rio Claro, to reach the Sirena Biological Station in the heart of Corcovado National Park. Overnight camp.

La Sirena Hike Day 2.
Transfer by boat to Drake Bay.
- Day 16: Caño Island Biological Reserve
Snorkel in the clear warm waters and protected coral reefs off the shores of Caño Island, and then relax with a picnic lunch on the beach at Casa Corcovado. Your tour starts after a leisurely breakfast, when you’ll meet your guide at the Gear House to select your flippers and mask. It’s then a 40-minute boat ride to the "Coral Garden". At certain times of the year, you may also see pilot or humpback whales, and dolphin along the way. The snorkeling site is located within a marine reserve, and is a good place for spotting a wide variety of fish and marine mammals, including “ if you are lucky “ manta rays, turtles and small white-tipped sharks.
- Day 17: Caño Island Biological Reserve
- Day 18: Transfer to Drake Bay. Flight to San Jose airport. Return flight to UK.
